Salt or baking soda: which one should I use?
Salt mode (a pinch, about 5 g) targets surface bacteria: ideal for meat, fish and salad greens. Baking soda mode (a small spoonful, about 3 g) targets pesticide residues on fruits and vegetables.
How do I remove pesticides from fruits and vegetables at home?
Use baking soda mode: a bowl of water, about 3 g of baking soda and a 15-minute cycle. Then let it rest for 10 minutes and rinse. The alkaline action helps lift residues far better than a simple rinse.
Is electrolysis cleaning safe for food?
Yes. In salt mode, electrolysis produces hypochlorous acid, a disinfectant used in the food industry. It leaves no detergent residue after rinsing with clean water.
Does the KSD Cleaner replace vinegar or baking soda alone?
It builds on them. Baking soda alone works slowly, and vinegar does little against pesticides. Electrolysis activates the solution and shortens soaking time.
How long does a cycle take?
About 10 minutes in salt mode, and 15 minutes in baking soda mode followed by 10 minutes of resting: these are the times used in our lab tests. The device has two timer settings, 5 and 10 minutes; for 15 minutes, run a 10-minute cycle followed by a 5-minute cycle.
Does the KSD Cleaner replace rinsing?
No. It helps improve how well your food is cleaned, but it doesn't replace good food safety practices, rinsing and proper cooking.
How do I charge it?
Place it on its induction charging base, plugged in with the included USB cable.
